Naturopathic Doctor, Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine
Dr. Z first graduated from Cornell University with a degree in biology in 1999. After many years in the neuroscience research lab, she went on to receive her doctorate in Naturopathic medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR. After moving to Maine, she realized she could not ignore her love of Chinese medicine, and she went back to school to receive her masters of acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture. Kim is nationally board certified in acupuncture from NCCAOM.
In addition to regular coursework, she has received specific training in orthopedic acupuncture, kinesiotaping, bodywork (including tui na and structural integration), and healing trauma. She is experienced in advanced motor and trigger point needle techniques that relieve pain and stimulate muscle function. Kim has worked in various community clinics throughout the country, including Boston Medical Center, and is thrilled to bring her expertise to her home of Portland, Maine.
Combining the best medicines: Dr. Zurich has created Infuse Health Clinic to offer the best of natural medicine. She uses her background as a scientist and a doctor, as well as holistic medicine, to provide an expert analysis and the most effective treatments. She continues her education on a frequent basis in the areas of herbal medicine, reproductive health, pain management, and nutritional therapies. Kim is a member of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM).
Dr. Z has also been a valued faculty member for many years at several of the local colleges. She loves teaching courses such as nutrition, anatomy, physiology, pathology, and clinical skills. It is a joy to be a part of the education and inspiration of the newest members of our healthcare community. You will find Dr. Zurich currently teaching as an adjunct professor at Southern Maine Community College and St. Joseph’s College.
Infuse Health Clinic
Dr. Z is very excited to be able to offer both Chinese acupuncture as well as nutritional and western herbal counseling in her office. She feels strongly about the fact that every person deserves healthcare, and that healing should be affordable and easily accessible. She bases her practice on education, so that you have the tools to take control of your health.
“Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity.” ~Hippocrates
Simple, yet drastically different from what we have been taught to expect as medicine. And somehow it all makes sense. Chinese medicine is a way of living. It is a philosophy that cherishes prevention of disease and balance of all your parts as a whole. The doctor will listen to your story and get to know you as a person. You are treated as an individual, not a disease, and your treatment is tailored to you specifically to treat the underlying cause of the illness.
Healing from the inside out: our bodies are smart, and have numerous ways to deal with the imbalances of disease. Sometimes they get overwhelmed, and at that point, the doctor provides therapies that aid the body in its natural process. This way of medicine can truly restore health rather than mask symptoms and create unwanted side effects. At Infuse Health Clinic, the motto is “do no harm,” because medicine is not supposed to hurt you.
