Medical Hypnotherapist

Hugh Sadlier received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Sociology from Bates College and a Master of Education degree with a major in Therapeutic Recreation and Psychology from Springfield (Mass.) College. He worked for twenty years in public and private counseling settings as a high school guidance counselor and director, a vocational rehabilitation counselor and a recreational specialist at a residential treatment center for emotionally disturbed boys.

In 1991, after completing his hypnosis training at the Ethical Hypnosis Training Center of Florida, Hugh was granted hypnotherapist certification by The National Guild of Hypnotists. He has been practicing hypnotherapy regularly since 1991 and holds the distinctions of Board Certified Consulting Hypnotist and Complimentary Medical Hypnotherapist, through the National Guild of Hypnotists.

“Through hypnosis, I help people make changes in themselves and in their lives that enable them to achieve optimal mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. With my guidance, they gather information from their subconscious minds that helps them understand ‘the roots of their problem.’ By disconnecting the impact of those earlier experiences, messages, and influences in their lives, they can eliminate the habit that resulted. They then create a new positive program that includes all the things they will do and enjoy by being free of the original issue.  Using the self-hypnosis techniques I teach and the personalized CD/MP3 I make, they reinforce the new program and it becomes the new habit in their subconscious minds. By encouraging people to take an active role in their own ‘healing,’ they feel empowered about having achieved the results themselves!”

A former high school and college athlete, Hugh enjoys a variety of outdoor recreational activities with his wife, Heather, and friends. He continues to enjoy his “positive addiction” to a morning run that began soon after college graduation.

“I just want to let you know that I am still alcohol-free, and have no desire to drink. I want to thank you so much for helping me overcome this problem.”

“Every two months since my last visit with you, I visit the oncologist. And what does he say, this cancer specialist? ‘I wish I could pat my own back for the way I’m treating you. But with no chemotherapy and no radiation I can’t find anything wrong with you and can’t take any credit.’ The real question is: DOES HYPNOTHERAPY WORK? The answer is: ASK MY ONCOLOGIST!”

“Since the age of five, I have suffered with severe bouts of depression. I have relied on psychologists and psychiatrists for the past twenty years to help me, using a combination of therapy and antidepressant drugs. I was never able to break from my cycle of depression. I went to Hugh Sadlier in desperation; I just wanted relief from the sadness and depression. Under hypnosis, I was able to free myself from reliving traumatic memories. I have not had a single bout of depression during the past year. Hugh’s work and caring are genuine; his manner professional. Hypnotherapy has proven to be very effective for me.”
